Who is behind the Cult of Reason curtain?

Ever wonder who's really behind the products you use every day? Is it a marketing team led by focus groups or perhaps an influencer who's only ever worked with their own face? When it comes to skincare, it’s all too common for a great product to hit the market and then vanish by next season due to some future trend speculation. Or worse, some influencer is pushing 40 different skin serums for the cash and the swag. Frustrating, right?

Well, let me introduce myself. I'm Angela Hugghins, the principal (formerly known as “master”, but I’m moving on from that male-centric word) esthetician behind Cult of Reason. With 25 years of experience working with people of all ages and skin types, I’ve spent years researching and testing CoR’s formulas right here in my Carrboro, NC studio. I have the honor of working with so many wonderful clients of different ethnicities, skin types, and concerns. I’ve had the pleasure of training with top educators, formulators, and brand owners from around the world. My passion for skincare started early—mixing pantry items into face masks as a child, evolving through the early Sephora brand days, and eventually leading to my own skincare clinic, Monarch Brow + Facial Studio. Most recently, Cult of Reason has been featured on television morning programs and in both local and national magazines. Each stage of this journey has been invaluable, and I’m incredibly grateful for all the experiences along the way.

Why does it matter who’s doing the formulating? Because I'm not driven by trends and speculation. My mission is to make your life simpler by paring down your daily skincare routine to the most effective foundational products that work for a range of skin types. I know you don’t have time for deciphering labels or ten-step routines. Cult of Reason customers are down-to-business folks who want an effective product with minimal effort, and it doesn’t hurt that the collection looks damn good on your vanity.

As part of the “Slow Beauty” movement, we at Cult of Reason are dedicated to keeping our products simple and straightforward, with ingredients that are intentional and readable. Most importantly, they actually work. Clean, simple, effective skincare without the fuss.

And in case you’re wondering, yes, our products are gender-affirmative because, at the end of the day, skin is skin. And I want you to feel and look good in YOUR skin.

Best,

Angela Hugghins
