Hey CoR Blog friends!
Today I'm rapping about something everyone who has a heartbeat understands—setbacks and disappointment. Because if there’s one guarantee in running a small business (or, honestly, in life), it’s that things don’t always go as planned.
There are moments when things click—when the ideas flow, the customers show up, and the hard work feels like it’s paying off. And then there are moments like this: my cleanser, Bare, was set to launch next week, but now it won’t be in my hands for another two months. It’s already been delayed before, which means we’re looking at a release date that’s about nine months later than originally planned. Talk about a lesson in patience.
At this point, I half expect a tube to walk in on its own, fully developed, with a cup of coffee and a "my dog ate my label" excuse.
And then there are moments when nothing lands the way you hoped, when a project flops, or when you pour everything into something only to watch it struggle. It’s frustrating, it’s exhausting, and yeah, sometimes it makes you want to lie face down on the floor for a while—preferably somewhere with delicious snacks within reach.
At least I can honestly say that I'm having a better time dealing with this particular road bump than the tenacious Robin who is unsuccessfully waging war on all of my windows as I write this. Sorry, my feathered little foe.
But here’s what I keep coming back to: setbacks aren’t failures. They’re just part of the ride. Every challenge forces me to look at things differently, to adapt, to find new ways forward. And the best part? You keep showing up. The fact that you’re here, reading this, supporting a small business like mine, means more than you know.
So if you’re feeling stuck, discouraged, or just plain tired, I'm here with you. Keep going, adjust where you need to, and don’t be afraid to take a pause before you try again. Sometimes the next breakthrough is just on the other side of a bad day. Or a gutteral primal scream.
Thanks for being here. It truly means everything.
Warmly,
Angela
