Cult of Reason Skincare's Curated Hero Ingredients

Award-winning esthetician Angela Hugghins created Cult of Reason with a singular focus: powerful, evidence-based skincare without the complication. With over twenty-five years of hands-on experience, she carefully selected each ingredient not for trends but for head-turning results. These superior active ingredients work in perfect harmony, delivering transformative benefits through a streamlined routine that challenges skincare's status quo.

Here's a quick run-down:

GRIT Cleansing Scrub (Exfoliating Cleanser)

  • Sulfur: Treats acne, pore congestion. Kills bacteria while gently exfoliating. Better tolerated than benzoyl peroxide.
  • Salicylic Acid: One of the best-known ingredients for acne. Its small molecules can penetrate pores to exfoliate and clear congestion.
  • Jojoba Beads: Gentle physical exfoliants that won't tear skin. No microplastics.
  • Pumice: Natural volcanic rock powder that provides effective physical exfoliation for smoothing rough skin texture.
  • Allantoin: Moisturizes and calms irritation.
  • Beta Glucan: Calms inflammation.

QUENCH Hydrating Serum (Water-based Serum)

  • Snow Mushroom: Also called Silver Ear or "beauty mushroom." A natural polysaccharide that deeply hydrates, boosts collagen production, and reduces irritation. Contains antioxidants A, C, E, and kojic acid for hyperpigmentation.
  • Glycerin: A lipid-derived humectant that increases water content at the skin's surface by attracting and holding more than 1000x its molecular weight in water.
  • Niacinamide: A form of Vitamin B3 that combats hyperpigmentation and maintains the skin barrier.
  • Mandelic Acid: A gentle AHA that smooths skin and leaves it soft to the touch.
  • Panthenol: A form of vitamin B5 that soothes, hydrates, and supports skin barrier function.
  • Licorice Root: Natural brightening ingredient that helps reduce hyperpigmentation and soothes irritated skin.
  • Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate: Natural preservative with antimicrobial properties that helps maintain product freshness while adding microbiome benefits.

SHIELD Skin Nutrition (Face Oil)

  • Bakuchiol: A plant-based retinol alternative that stimulates skin cell turnover, improving tone and texture without irritation.
  • Cloudberry Seed Oil: Rich in antioxidants that neutralize free radicals and fight hyperpigmentation. Natural form of Vitamin C
  • Rosehip Oil: Works alongside Cloudberry to fight free radicals and hyperpigmentation. Natural form of Vitamin E.
  • Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate: An oil-stable form of Vitamin C that corrects sun damage and protects skin.
  • Black Seed Oil: Ancient healing oil with anti-inflammatory properties that helps balance skin and combat blemishes.
  • Sea Buckthorn Oil: Exceptionally rich in omega fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins that nourish and repair damaged skin.
  • Turmeric: Powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that brightens skin, reduces redness, and helps combat acne.
  • Squalane: A tried-and-true emollient that mimics the skin's natural lubrication.

HOW THEY WORK TOGETHER

For complete moisture, apply Quench (water-based) to damp skin after cleansing with Grit. Let it set for a second, then follow with Shield (oil-based) to seal in hydration. Think of Quench as the water base layer and Shield as the sealant on top.

Available as stand-alone products, or as a bundle known as The Trio.
